We had 106 runners plodding along through the terrible conditions at this year’s Brighton Half Marathon on Sunday 21st February.

Despite the rain, the cold and the wind, they all managed to cross the finish line! A few lucky individuals even crossed the line wearing (very wet!) toilet costumes.

The event went really well, and it was great to see so many people running in WaterAid running vests.  As the funds are now starting to come in, it looks like we are going to raise just over £25,000 from the event, which is great news! That’s 833 toilets, 4167 taps or 34,722m of pipe! Well done everyone!

We also had a few faithful WaterAid supporters at the cheering points supporting friends and family members, so thank you to you for braving the conditions!

Thanks to everyone for all your support especially the runners who have worked so hard in training and fundraising. You all did brilliantly!

Quotes from our runners

"Despite the wind and rain, I had a good run and somehow almost got a personal best time!  The refreshments you provided in the tent following the run were certainly very welcome. I found the organisation from the WaterAid side both before and during the race day to be professional and efficient." Avi Govind

"The atmosphere was absolutely amazing; it was unlike anything I’ve ever seen or been part of. The rain and hail made it feel a bit like I was running through purgatory though." Dalilah Baruti
