The adidas Women's 5K Challenge is the largest women-only race in the UK.

Next year's event takes place in September 2010 in Hyde Park in London, Birmingham city centre and Sefton Park in Liverpool.

WaterAid does not have places at the event, but you can enter directly for only £15 on a first come first served basis. This is a great way to raise money for WaterAid and adidas will donate £5 from your entry fee directly to us - a great start to your fundraising! Just select WaterAid from the drop-down list when you complete your application.

If you would like to take part, please register your interest, and enter 'adidas Women's Challenge' as the event description. We will be in touch as soon as entry is open for the race, in early 2010.

To find out more, please visit the adidas Women's 5k Challenge website. You might also want to have a look at the FAQ's for more information including times, refunds, sponsor forms and charity donations (all links open in a new window).

Once you have entered, please call us on 0845 6000 433 or email events@wateraid.org to let us know - and WaterAid will be there to support you every step of the way. All our runners receive:

  • A comprehensive fundraising and information pack
  • Continuous advice and support from WaterAid's experienced events team
  • A coveted WaterAid running vest

Issues around water and sanitation often impact most on the lives of women and girls. It is often them who have to fetch water and take care of sick relatives. On average women in rural Africa spend 26% of their time collecting water, that's around 6 hours a day. The water may weigh as much as 20kg, the same as the average luggage allowance at UK airports, and many face the risk of attack on their journeys.

Once communities have access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education, women have more time to earn money, grow food and take care of their families. Children have improved health and more time to dedicate to their education, attendance increases by 11% for girls when sanitation is improved at their schools.

With your support we can improve the lives of more women and children.
