Severn Trent Mountain and Cycle Challenge Rules

The Severn Trent Water Ltd Mountain and Cycle Challenge Committee have developed these rules in order to keep you safe.
Please read through these rules carefully.
You must agree to these terms and conditions in order to register your team in this year's event. The link to the registration form is at the foot of this page.
1. Walkers and cyclists enter at their own risk. The organisers and Severn Trent Water Limited cannot be held liable for any loss, injury or loss of life incurred during the event.
2. Mountain Challenge (walking event) age restrictions:
- Mini challenge - each competitor must be at least 12 years of age on 11 July 2009
- Full and A course - each competitor must be at least 15 years of age on 11 July 2009
3. Cycle Challenge (cycling event) age restrictions:
- All routes - each competitor must be at least 14 years of age on 11 July 2009
4. All competitors must ensure that they are both medically and physically fit to take part in the Challenge. Any competitor who is suffering from a medical or physical disability must notify the organisers before the event.
5. Cycle Challenge (cycling event):
- At all times during the event, each competitor must carry; adequate food rations and liquid, mobile phone (or coins for a telephone box), a copy of the route details and a medical card.
6. Mountain Challenge (walking event):
- Clothing and footwear must be suitable for rough moor land walking. Footwear must be boots which support the ankles (NB: lightweight fell running shoes will not be permitted). Waterproof clothing must be carried at all times. The route to be walked is notorious for sudden changes in conditions and mist is common.
- Each competitor must carry at all times on the walk; Whistle, adequate emergency rations, mobile phone (or coins for a telephone box), pen or pencil and paper, a copy of the route details, a container of beverage and a medical card. The quantity of rations should be sufficient for 12 hours. (8 hours on the Mini Challenge).
- Each team should between them also carry; A lightweight torch, adequate first aid kit (including a bandage that will support a limb), polythene survival bag, at least two compasses (for example a 'Silva' compass) one for every two people, and two sets of OS maps that cover the route. The torch and survival bag are not needed on the Mini Challenge.
7. The organisers retain the right to adjust the rules, arrangements and route if deemed necessary.
