WaterAid’s Talking Toilets join Glastonbury’s line-up of legendary loos

Where can you have your loo break narrated by acting legend Brian Blessed, comedy queen Kathy Burke and musician and DJ Cerys Matthews? At this year’s Glastonbury festival, of course!

This year, we’re offering Glastonbury-goers the chance to enjoy a very special addition to Worthy Farm’s line-up of legendary loos.

Our three Talking Toilets feature the voices of acting legend Brian Blessed, comedy queen Kathy Burke and influential musician and DJ Cerys Matthews – all sharing the huge problems that come with not having access to a decent loo.

As well as being voiced by superstar celebrities, our Talking Toilets offer a lot more than first meets the eye.

While some festival-goers will open the door to the swankiest loos on site, others will be left feeling a lot more exposed.

To highlight the fact that one in three people around the world still don’t have access to a safe, private loo, one of our Talking Toilets has a daunting two-way door – which appears see-through to the person inside but as a mirror to those outside.

That means, while you might get to enjoy an epic view of the Pyramid stage, you’ll also have the feeling of being visible to the outside world the whole time you have your trousers down.

And while our babbling bogs might be funny, their message – that 2.3 billion people around the world still don’t have access to a decent toilet – is anything but a laughing matter.

That’s why our amazing team of volunteers will be asking festival-goers to sign our Toilets Save Lives petition, to make sure everyone everywhere has access to this basic human right: a decent toilet.
