Annual Report 2006-7

In the fiscal year ending 31 March 2007, globally WaterAid enabled over a million of the world's poorest people in 17 countries to gain access to safe, sustainable water supplies and 1.5 million people to gain access to sanitation. We also worked to influence local, national and international governments to adopt and implement pro-poor water and sanitation policies.

In our first year of fully staffed operations, WaterAid America contributed to the international programs by funding work in nine countries.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, new commitments to WaterAid America grew from $1.5 million in 2006 to over $5 million in 2007. These gifts and pledges enabled us to increase our program support by more than 100% over the prior year and to look ahead to making a growing contribution to WaterAid's global mission.
