Christina Maggi joins as Director of Development
WaterAid America welcomes Christina Maggi as Director of Development. With Christina’s broad array of fundraising skills and extensive experience in the nonprofit sector, WaterAid America will be better equipped to raise funds to support its vision of a world where everyone has access to safe water and sanitation.
With a background in advocacy, human rights and international development, Christina’s areas of interest include civil liberties, women’s rights, comprehensive health services, and sustainable development. Throughout her career, she has worked to promote programs that educate, motivate and empower individuals to help themselves, their families and their communities.
Prior to joining WaterAid, Christina spent three years with the New York Civil Liberties Union, the New York affiliate of the ACLU. As Director of Development she successfully built the development infrastructure and positioned the organization for a major capital campaign.
Deeply committed to improving the lives of people around the world, Christina’s five-year tenure as Vice President of Development and Communications at Population Communications International gives her an understanding of different areas of social and development issues that will enrich WaterAid America.
She also led the direct response fundraising efforts at Amnesty International USA for two years and Planned Parenthood Federation of America for six years. Her early work history was in advertising, including agency work for nonprofit organizations. She is a past president of the Direct Marketing Fundraisers Association and has presented at various national fundraising conferences.
In her new role, Christina will work closely with President and CEO, Patricia Dandonoli, to develop and implement a comprehensive development program that will enable WaterAid America to expand its vital services.
