‘Can you imagine life without running water at home, or a functioning toilet? Many, many people, including right here in the Asia Pacific don’t have the same access that we do here,’ said City West Water General Manager Customers & Community, Fran Duiker.

Nominated as one of Victoria’s Top 50 Public Sector Women in 2018, Fran is City West Water’s General Manager of Customers and Community. Today is World Toilet Day and a fitting day to announce that Fran has become an Australian Ambassador for international not-for-profit, WaterAid, to continue her passion for helping communities in need.

WaterAid Australia is a member of WaterAid, an international not-for-profit organisation, determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation.

‘I’m incredibly proud to be announced as a WaterAid Ambassador on World Toilet Day. Working at City West Water, I am very aware of how vital access to water and safe sanitation is for everyone in the world. It’s a human right,’ says Fran.

‘We provide safe and reliable water and sewerage services to one million customers in Melbourne’s west and CBD, but it’s staggering to think that across the world, these basic services are a luxury for many millions of people.’

Fran hopes to raise awareness about the work of WaterAid Australia both in the community and at a corporate level in the public and private sectors.
