Queen’s Birthday Honours awarded to key WaterAid contributors
Two men who have played an instrumental role in WaterAid’s history received Queen’s Birthday Honours yesterday.
Mr Grant Hill, the co-founder of WaterAid Australia, and Professor Robert Skinner, the Chair of WaterAid Australia and WaterAid International, are now Members (AM) of the Order of Australia. This is awarded to individuals for service in a particular locality or field of activity.
WaterAid Australia would like to congratulate both Grant Hill and Robert Skinner for receiving this much-deserved acknowledgement, and would like to thank them both for their ongoing contributions to our organisation.
Grant Hill was recognised for “significant service to the community through social welfare initiatives”. Outside of WaterAid Australia, he has also contributed to the international development sector through his work at TEAR Australia, World Vision and Oxfam. He was the driving force behind WaterAid Australia’s inception by bringing multiple non-government organisations together.
Rob Skinner was recognised for “significant service to environmental water management”. In addition to his role at WaterAid, he is a Professorial Fellow at the Monash Sustainable Development Institute, Monash University. Rob has extensive experience in organisational leadership, including six years as Managing Director of Melbourne Water and ten years as CEO of Kingston Council in Victoria.
Hear! Hear! Rob Skinner has been a visionary leader in water and sustainability @MelbourneWater @WaterAidAus @MonashMSDI @crcwsc in Australia and globally. Most deserving of Order of Australia award. https://t.co/VQEaCw409q
