Help unearth a little boy’s future
For 12-year-old Yenus and his community, a bright, secure future lies 100 feet below ground.
Yenus lives with his family in Frat, a remote, hilltop community in the northwest of Ethiopia. It’s a hot, humid and dry area where a lack of water, is holding people back from fulfilling their potential.
The river is full of human sewage and is contaminated with waste and materials from the nearby hospital. As you can imagine, every sip of the filthy liquid could lead to disease or even worse…. But there is no other option for Yenus – it’s all his family has to drink, cook and wash with.

Sadly, instead of studying to create a good future, Yenus spends hours every day riding his donkey to the River Lah to collect water for his family.
In spite of the danger, Yenus scoops the filthy water into jerrycans almost as big as him. With no running water in the area, there’s no other option for Yenus…
A young boy like Yenus shouldn’t have to spend many hours a day collecting contaminated water. All he wants is the chance to grow up and fulfil his dreams!
With your special gift this Christmas, you could give life when you give, as you help save children from having to drink dangerously dirty water. And critically, you’ll make sure they can wash their hands to stop the spread of diseases that kill too.
With clean water on tap every day, Yenus and communities like his will become healthier, stronger and more able to control own destinies.
Please give generously this Christmas!
Give the gift of life to children like Yenus.
Our mission is to transform the lives of the poorest and most marginalised people by improving access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene.
How you can help deliver clean water…
Your donation is important in a community like Frat and other places where we work, because being able to rely on support means we can commit to delivering long-term impact. While installing taps and toilets is critical, we’ve also seen in Frat and around the world, that advocacy maintenance training, and hygiene education will help bring sustainable changes that last!
Where does your money go?
We’ll use your donations to transform lives in the best way we can. 69% is spent enabling people to transform their lives with safe water, decent toilets and good hygiene, 22% is spent on fundraising and 9% is spent on accountability and administration costs (which include bank fees and regulatory costs).
