You can help change the story for women like Balbina

Give monthly and help us change this.

    WaterAid/Jerry Galea
Dirty water threatens their lives every day.

Can you imagine having to walk for hours just to quench your children’s thirst and provide water for your family to wash their hands?

Balbina has to walk each day- with her new baby- to collect water for her family. Even when she was recovering from childbirth, she had no choice.

“My body feels very tired, on my head I have a basket and I need to carry two jerry cans. Often I feel sick but I have to go.” - Balbina

In Timor-Leste only 28% of the population has access to handwashing facilities with soap and water. How can communities like Balbina’s protect themselves from the spread of disease without these basics?

To date COVID-19 has spread mostly in high-income nations with relatively strong health systems. However, the impact will be much greater if it continues to spread to countries with weaker health systems.

We must act now to protect those in the countries who need it most.

Join WaterAid as a monthly giver and you can change the story for women like Balbina.

Watch the video below and see the journey Balbina takes to collect water each and every day.

Our mission is to transform the lives of the poorest and most marginalised people by improving access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene.
