A dangerous path to collect water

Susmita is a mum in India and every day she straps her baby son, Sanjit, to her back as she walks to collect water for her family. To get there, they must cross a dangerous, rickety old bridge that is little more than a few decaying bamboo rods. But it’s the only way to cross the canal between her and the water she desperately needs.

In spite of the danger, Susmita and all the women of her village, and many young girls, have to cross the fragile bridge every day.

Like any mum, Susmita is worried about the future for her son, and how she’ll protect him from disease. Children like two-year-old Sanjit, are the most vulnerable to diseases that cause diarrhoea, which takes thousands of lives every year...

Become a monthly donor today and help give the lifesaving gift of clean water to children like Sanjit - that’s close to home and safe to drink.

With clean water close to home children like Sanjit will be become healthier, stronger and can live lives filled with possibilities instead of deadly diseases.

Give the gift of life to children like Sanjit.

How you can help deliver clean water…

Your regular donation is so important to communities like the ones in India and other places where we work, because being able to rely on support means we can commit to delivering long-term impact. While installing taps and toilets is critical, we’ve also seen in India and around the world, that advocacy maintenance training, and hygiene education will help bring sustainable changes that last!

When you join us as a WaterAid supporter you will receive:

  • A welcome pack explaining how your donation will make a difference to the lives of some of the world’s poorest people.

  • Updates on WaterAid’s work through Oasis magazine posted to you twice per year and a monthly e-news which contains report backs on communities and families reached with the help of your support. You will also receive news from the field and updates from families benefiting from your gift.

  • All donations $2 and over are 100% tax deductable.

  • An annual tax receipt in July.

Your monthly gift will help ensure more health care workers and their patients are reached with desperately needed clean water and hygiene facilities.

For any enquiries or to set up a regular gift via direct debit, please contact our Supporter Services team on 1300 858 022 or email [email protected]

WaterAid has teams in 28 countries across the world, working with our partners to transform millions of lives every year by improving access to clean water, toilets and hygiene.

Since 1981, we’ve reached over 27 million people with clean water. But we can’t stop there.

In the last 39 years, we’ve gone from strength to strength to become one of the most respected organisations dealing solely with water, sanitation and hygiene issues.

While installing taps and toilets is essential to our work, we do so much more. We convince governments to change laws, link policy makers with people on the ground, pool knowledge and resources and rally support from people and organisations around the world, making lasting change happen on a massive scale.

Regular gifts by direct debit give us a predictable income so we can commit to helping more people. Plus direct debits mean we pay less in processing fees than for credit card gifts.

We’ll use your donations to transform lives in the best way we can. 74.6% is spent enabling people to transform their lives with safe water, decent toilets and good hygiene, 14.8% is spent on fundraising and 10.6% is spent on accountability and administration costs (which include bank fees and regulatory costs).
