Leave a bequest/Gift in your will
When you leave a bequest/gift in your Will, you are leaving a gift that will last a lifetime.
A bequest/gift in your Will is an investment in the future of the world’s most marginalised people.
Without a Will, your estate will be divided according to the law, which may not be in accordance with your wishes. It is therefore of great importance that you make a Will and equally important that it should be drawn up with the help of a solicitor to ensure your last wishes are met.
There are a number of ways that you might consider leaving a bequest/gift in Will to WaterAid:
A share of your estate or residual bequest
A residual bequest is a percentage of what remains of your estate after all other gifts and expenses have been distributed.
This is a gift of a specified dollar amount. At the time you create or amend your Will, you can choose to leave a set dollar amount to WaterAid.
A specific bequest is something of value such as an antique, painting, property, shares or an insurance policy that you choose to set aside.
Amending an existing will?
If you already have a Will, you can amend it simply adding WaterAid. A solicitor can help you complete a codicil, a document on which changes or additions are made to an existing will.
How to word your Will
It’s very easy to include a gift to WaterAid in your Will. All you have to do is give your solicitor our full legal name (WaterAid Australia) and registered Australian Business Number (99 700 687 141). That is it. Your solicitor will do the rest.
