Chairperson - WaterAid
Contract Type: Permanent
Contact Name: Paris Plompen
Right now, 785 million people in the world don't have clean water close to home and 2 billion people don't have a decent toilet of their own. A staggering two in five healthcare facilities globally do not have both soap and water available for doctors and nurses to wash their hands at points where care is provided. Together, with our partners and supporters around the world, we will change that. In the face of COVID 19 pandemic the critical role water, sanitation and hygiene play in our lives has never been more apparent.
WaterAid is an international not-for-profit organisation, determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation. With the current Chair's term expiring in August 2021, the Australian Board is seeking to appoint a new Chair.
We are ideally seeking a Chair to:
- Champion the key values which underpin the governance and work of WaterAid Australia;
- Monitor the diversity of the Board, ensure that Board members are properly inducted and supported, and regularly review the performance of the Board and the contribution of individual Board members;
- Guide, stretch and challenge the Chief Executive and the organisation;
- Effectively represent WaterAid Australia within the global federation and work collaboratively with other members, the WaterAid International Board and Secretariat to achieve WaterAid's mission.
A proven Non-Executive Director you will ideally have Chair or Deputy Chair experience and bring knowledge and passion for either the water or development sector. You are intrinsically motivated by making a difference globally and you are attracted to a unique opportunity to address one of the most fundamental challenges of our time.
WaterAid is committed to gender equality and diversity and welcomes applications from women, people of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people with disabilities.
