Works

What is the Impact Accelerator?

Two billion people, one in four, live without a decent toilet. 673 million people in the world – one in eleven – have no choice but to defecate in the open. Around 310,000 children under five die every year from diarrhoeal diseases caused by poor water and sanitation. That's over 800 children a day, or one child every two minutes.

On top of these already shocking statistics, the impacts of climate change are exacerbating the world's already dire sanitation situation. These are some of the world’s biggest sanitation issues and we are here to help solve them!

The Who Gives A Crap and WaterAid Impact Accelerator will bring together the best minds in sanitation to solve some of its biggest issues. The accelerator method of problem solving will see our country programs tackle some of the biggest sanitation problems in their countries to create innovative scalable solutions.

What is an Accelerator?

They are programs with the intent of accelerating the development of an idea. In our case, these are ideas to solve global sanitation issues. Accelerators see great thinkers focus on a specific problem, bringing in experts, creative thinking, networking, financial investments, mentoring and more to accelerate the new forming idea into a real, scalable solution.
