2018 marked the eighth year of the International Training on Urban Rainwater Harvesting System by WaterAid, in partnership with Rain Forum. Held from 16-19 July, this year’s workshop saw participants from diverse backgrounds – including civil engineers, architects, environmentalists, urban planners, policy-makers, development practitioners and academicians.

Body-1

Experts and professionals from BUET, WaterAid, Rain Forum and India facilitated interesting sessions for the attendees, covering a wide array of topics such as urban water challenges, principles, planning, design, construction, maintenance of the rainwater harvesting system, groundwater and artificial recharge, etc.

Body-2

First-hand practical experiences were also shared by experts, following a field visit to a rainwater harvesting plant at VERC – helping participants obtain a holistic view of the entire rainwater harvesting system.

Body-3

The training ended with 33 new rain champions committing to utilise their knowledge and skills for a better, more sustainable future where every rain drop counts. Certificates and crests were handed over to participants by Dr Md Liakath Ali, Director of Programmes and Policy Advocacy of WaterAid and Engineer Md Nuruzzaman, Chairman of Khulna WASA.
