Anirban Rise & Lead: WaterAid celebrates Women’s Returnship journey and leadership growth

WaterAid Bangladesh and Oxfam in Bangladesh have hosted the Anirban Rise & Lead: Recognition & Closing Ceremony celebrating the successes and growth of women returnees who participated in the Women’s Returnship Programme. The event marked a moment of reflection, recognition, and celebration of the incredible journey that these women have undertaken.

During the ceremony, the distinguished speakers shared their thoughts on the programme's journey, from its inception to its successful execution, highlighting its impact on both the participants and the organisations involved.

Ms Hasin Jahan, Country Director of WaterAid Bangladesh, shared her thoughts on the journey of the programme from a vision to its successful implementation. “What started as a small idea has blossomed into something truly remarkable. This programme has not only helped our participants enhance their professional skills but has also given them the confidence to take on leadership roles and make impactful contributions. Watching this programme evolve from a concept to reality has been an emotional and fulfilling journey for all of us.”

Ms Razia Sultana Luna, Director of People and Organisational Development at WaterAid Bangladesh, spoke about the profound importance of the initiative and its alignment with WaterAid’s mission. “As an organisation, we are committed to creating spaces where everyone, especially women, can flourish and grow. This programme has been a true testament to that commitment. Seeing the participants evolve, develop new skills, and become confident leaders has been a rewarding experience, and we are proud of the role we’ve played in helping them realise their potential.”

Ms Mahmuda Sultana, Programme Director of Oxfam in Bangladesh, expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the programme’s impact on empowering women and increasing their visibility in the workplace. She stated, “It’s incredible to witness the transition from an idea to a full-fledged programme that has not only enabled women to return to the workforce but also provided them with the tools, resources, and support to thrive in their careers. This programme has opened doors for countless women, and it is inspiring to see their journeys unfold.”
