WaterAid Bangladesh in collaboration with CWIS-FSM Support Cell (CFSC) of Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) organised a consultation workshop on 13 June 2022 at CFSC Conference room, DPHE. The consultation took place to select cities to develop Excreta Flow Diagrams (SFDs) and plan City Wide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) under newly initiated project titled ‘National and Bilateral WASH Advocacy (NaBWASHA)’ which is graciously funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF).

As a part of the project, five selected municipalities will be supported in line with the National Action Plan (NAP) following the Institutional and Regulatory Framework on Faecal Sludge Management (IRF-FSM), internalising system functions such as responsibility, accountability, and resource planning, by strengthening local capacities, and ensuring key service outcomes such as safety, equity, and sustainability.

It was a fruitful consultation, where potential cities for SFD development and CWIS planning was initiated by engaging local authorities and major sector actors like DPHE, UNICEF, ITN-BUET, Practical Action, SNV, WSUP, Oxfam, NGO Forum, ICRC, UCLG, and MAB.
