The e-book titled ‘Sanitation Safety Plan (SSP): Sakhipur Municipality, Tangail’ unveiled by Mr Md Khairul Islam, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Local Government Rural Development and Cooperatives (MoLGRDC), who graced the event at 7th International Faecal Sludge Management Conference, and 21st AfWA Congress & Exhibition (Abidjan 2023) in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire as the chief guest.

The sanitation safety plan (SSP) for Sakhipur Municipality has been developed in line with sanitation safety planning manual of World Health Organisation (WHO, 2015) to identify key risks and mitigation measures. Risks related to each step of the sanitation value chain were assessed using a semi-quantitative approach.

Based on this sanitation safety plan, it is suggested to take various supporting activities including public awareness regarding proper desludging of septic tanks, expanding the service of mechanical emptying to collect faecal sludge, occupational health, safety training and awareness programs for key exposure groups, routine maintenance of equipment associated with sanitation service Scan to access delivery, and popularising the use of compost in agriculture.
