MOU signed between Chittagong City Corporation (CHASIC), WaterAid Bangladesh and Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK)

A tripartite Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Chittagong City Corporation (CHASIC), WaterAid Bangladesh and Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK) to solve the problem of public toilets in Chittagong city.

The initiative has been taken to solve the problem of public toilet crisis in Chittagong city. It is noted that the number of public toilets is very insignificant compared to the demand of the growing population of Chittagong city.  This initiative will also help in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 6.

Under this five-year agreement within the next three years a sustainable public toilet management model will be developed for the Chittagong metropolis. Chittagong City Corporation will later implement the public toilet program following this model created with the overall support of WaterAid and Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK). Chief Executive Officer (Additional Secretary) of Chittagong City Corporation Mr. Mohammad Shahidul Alam, Acting Country Director of WaterAid Bangladesh Mr. Hossain Ishrat Adib, Director of Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK) Dr. Mahmudur Rahman and other senior officials of related institutions were present at the MoU signing ceremony.
