WaterAid’s public toilet app, Public Toilet Bangladesh, has won the country’s highly anticipated Digital Marketing Award 2019 in the Bronze category for a campaign on using the app to find public toilets on the move. The app fought big brands and secured Bronze in the award ceremony held on Saturday 2 November in Dhaka.

This is Bangladesh’s premier award in digital marketing, initiated by Brand Forum Bangladesh (BBF). The fourth edition of the award ceremony was presented by Meghna Group of Industries in association with Daily Star and ada (Analytics. Data. Advertising) Bangladesh, an Axiata Digital company.

Comparing this success with Gold and Silver category awards – the app stood out among all the big brands with its modest budget and resources. The Gold category Winner was Bkash App and Silver was Grameen.

The public toilet app campaign ran earlier this year in partnership with Robi, SoftWorks (app developer) and WebAble. WaterAid launched this innovative app to help people easily locate public toilets across Bangladesh, and is targeted at supporting neglected groups like women, children and elderly find the nearest toilet on the road quickly when they are outside of home.

The award is a collective celebration for everyone who are associated with the app, and the spirit of innovation in the WASH sector.
