The team to represent Bangladesh in Stockholm Junior Water Prize 2017

 

The team to represent Bangladesh in Stockholm Junior Water Prize 2017 was awarded as Champion for the national part of the selection process in a modest ceremony held on 10 June 2017 at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro, Dhaka. Their project was on using titanium dioxide photocatalyst in degradation of industrial dyes. The project is designed to be cheap, feasible and an effective method of industrial greywater treatment.

Rituraj Das Gupta, Aniruddha Chowdhury, Antor Chakraborty from Mastermind English Medium School were crowned as the National Champion of this year's competition in presence of our distinguished guests Prof Dr M Habibur Rahman, Chariman of Dhaka WASA Board and Professor of Department of Civil Engineering, Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET); Niklas Skogsjö, First Secretary Division of Environment and Climate Change Development Cooperation Section, Embassy of Sweden Dhaka; Dr Md Khairul Islam, Country Director, WaterAid Bangladesh and honourable juries, mentors, moderators, guardians and journalists.

The winner at SJWPBD is deliberated by a panel of adjudicators designated by House of Volunteers Foundation, Bangladesh (HoV Bangladesh), which was nominated by Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) as the national organiser of SJWP for Bangladesh. WaterAid Bangladesh is patronising HOV for last three years to organise SJWP Bangladesh’s National Competition as Co-organiser to inspire young minds to engage in water and environmental issues and create real solutions for the local water crisis which has global impact.
