WaterAid Bangladesh joined with The Daily Samakal in organising a roundtable titled 'Integrated Water Resource Management: Citizen’s Participation and Way Forward'

On 27 December 2017, WaterAid Bangladesh delightedly joined hands with The Daily Samakal in organising a roundtable titled ‘সমন্বিত পানি ব্যবস্থাপনা : জনঅংশগ্রহণ ও করণীয়’ (Integrated Water Resource Management: Citizen’s Participation and Way Forward).

With key sector actors from the government and non-government organisations present, the event carved pathways to positive discussions highlighting issues such as the need of an integrated water management system, the importance of reducing water pollution, the necessity of maximising inter-ministry coordination, the scope of budget allocation for integrated water management, and the significance of people’s participation.

The roundtable was hosted under the banner of WaterAid’s ‘Watershed - Empowering Citizen’s’ programme - an initiative focusing on the importance of citizen’s participation in the decision making process in terms of planning and implementation of relevant policies and plans, with the support of SIMAVI, an organisation working to improve health standards in marginalised communities of Africa and Asia.
