WaterAid signs MOU with Channel i

WaterAid Bangladesh and Channel i have joined forces to engage youth in development agenda to accelerate the progress of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) attainment in Bangladesh. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed on 9 July 2024, at the Channel i headquarter in Tejgaon, marking the beginning of a collaborative effort aimed at raising awareness and promoting sustainable solutions to the WASH and climate crisis.

The MOU was signed by Ms Hasin Jahan, Country Director of WaterAid Bangladesh, and Mr Mohammad Masud, Executive Director (Administration) of  Channel i. The signing ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Mr Faridur Reza Sagar, Managing Director of Impress Telefilm Limited; Mr Helal Khan, Executive Director of Operations, Channel i; Ms Swapna Reza, Senior Program Producer, Channel i; and Mr Md Tahmidul Islam, Head of Technical Services, WaterAid Bangladesh.

Ms Hasin Jahan expressed WaterAid’s commitment to the development of Bangladesh, stating, "WaterAid Bangladesh has been tirelessly working towards improving water, sanitation, and hygiene standards in the country. This partnership with Channel i will amplify our efforts, bringing these critical issues to the forefront and engaging the youth to drive change."

WaterAid Bangladesh and Channel i have signed the MoU to work together for next three years and agreed to launch a television programme in coming months to raise awareness and promote sustainability and climate resilience in Bangladesh. The programme will feature a mix of studio discussions, field footage, and expert interviews. It will also involve a youth parliament, who will be trained to engage in dialogues with policymakers and experts on WASH issues. 

Through this initiative, WaterAid Bangladesh and Channel i aim to spark conversations, inspire actions, and drive positive change in addressing WASH issues. By leveraging media power and engaging diverse stakeholders, the programme seeks to foster a culture of WASH awareness and advocacy, contributing to a healthier and more sustainable future for Bangladesh.
