WaterAid UK Chief Executive visits Bangladesh

On the week of January 14th, WaterAid UK Chief Executive Tim Wainwright visited Bangladesh for the first time after assuming his responsibility as the Chief Executive in 2017.

On his visit to the country, Tim was accompanied by a team including Ms Heather Skilling -   Trustee, Mr Henry Northover - Global Policy Director, Mr Erik Harvey - Programme Support Unit Director and Mr Savio Mr Carvalho - Global Campaign Director.

The Chief Executive met with local and government actors in order to learn and share global and local challenges in implementing and achieving SDG 6 targets in the country. He also met with government officials and executive directors of partner organisations, along with participating at a roundtable on ‘Gauging the challenges of SDG 6’ with relevant sector actors.

Also as part of the visit, Tim and his team visited the country programme’s interventions to understand our impact working with communities, our collaboration with governments and innovative, strategic and integrated approaches we have adapted to bring about wider change in the communities we work in. This included visiting our field programmes, a co-composting plant, public toilet facilities in Dhaka city, safe drinking water dispensing systems in railway stations and WASH situations in urban low income communities.
