Project Officer

Application Deadline: 19 June 2018

Role Brief

WaterAid is looking for a dynamic, passionate and self-driven individual to fill in the position of Project Officer for a project engaged in the building, operation and management of public toilets (PT) in different areas of Bangladesh.

The public toilets in different cities of Bangladesh are inappropriately managed and do not have adequate facilities. The floating population, commuters in different cities go in the open to urinate and even practice open defecation which has a considerable effect on the city environment. Lack of unusable and inaccessible public toilets make people vulnerable when they are out of their homes, especially women, children and person with disability. Recognising the huge public health implications of this, WaterAid has built and is setting good examples of public toilet management (operation, maintenance and sustainability) in Dhaka, Chottogram and Sylhet with the hope that this model approach will be recognised and replicated in other cities across the country. The project works with the Local Government Division, Dhaka, Sylhet, Chittagong and Khulna City Corporations, Dhaka Water and Sewerage Supply Authority (DWASA), utility agencies, corporate groups and other relevant stakeholders.
