In Bangladesh, the water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sector is predominantly male-dominated with women's participation often limited to informal roles. Despite their significant potential to drive meaningful change, only a small percentage of women influence decisions regarding sanit tion for their community. This severely limits their capacity to contribute to sustainable and inclusive sanitation systems. Addressing this disparity is crucial for achieving equitable progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 6. To address these gaps, WaterAid Bangladesh along with its funding partners, is organising a national dialogue on women in sanit tion. This event will connect women professionals, foster leadership, and promote collaboration in sanitation. By highlighting women’s contributions, and challenges, this dialogue will provide a platform to share insights, identify barriers, and propose solutions.

Objectives:

Facilitate cross-sectoral dialogue to encourage collaborative approaches for gender-inclusive sanitation systems.
Capture and share women’s experiences to inspire systemic change and greater representation in
decision-making.
Highlight the importance of women’s contributions in sanitation to inspire and empower participants to take leadership roles.
Connect women professionals from different parts of the sanitation sector to foster continuous learning and collaboration.
