It’s hard to believe that in today’s day and time 844 million people do not have clean water and 2.3 billion do not even have a decent toilet. Every two minutes, a child under five dies from diarrheal disease caused by water and sanitation.

WaterAid is a global organisation working across 34 countries over 3 decades to offer clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene to communities we work with. We aim to convince governments to change laws, link policymakers to grassroots, pool knowledge and resources, and rally global support from people and organisations to make lasting change in the lives of the poor, marginalised and excluded people around WASH services.
 
We seek a competent candidate for the post of Manager- Regional Learning and Strategic Support for our South Asia Regional office which supports our country programmes in the region (Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Myanmar) to facilitate our mission and enable the provision of WASH rights/ services to the communities we work with. The South Asia Region also provides a regional platform for learning and quality assurance and leads regional and relevant international initiatives on WASH.

The Regional Learning and Strategic Support Manager as a member of the core Regional Team provides crucial support to the South Asia Region to discharge the above.

This post will be based in Dhaka and is open to Bangladeshi or other nationals based in the country with a valid work permit.

The key purpose of this role is to promote knowledge management; learning and strategic support towards quality programme planning, coordination, reporting and assurance across the region.  

The Regional Learning and Strategic Support Manager will have strong internal work relationships (across the region and globally) and actively network with external knowledge management and learning organisations platforms on WASH.

Work Description

Reportable to: Regional Director-South Asia 

Work station: Dhaka, Bangladesh

Work Tenure: Fixed Term, 01 (one) year with a possibility of extension

Working hours: Full time (05 days a week with minimum 37.5 hours per week)

To be successful, you'll need to have

  • Master’s in Business Administration, Social Science, Development Studies, and Public Health or in any other relevant field.

  • 05 -07 years’ work experience in relevant field.

  • Demonstrable experience of managing programme and project planning, log frame design, progress monitoring and reporting. 

  • Proven experience of using relevant M & E and learning tools & systems to generate evidence & learning including participatory learning approaches.

  • Proven experience of designing and delivering high quality knowledge management, research and learning initiatives.

  • Sound experience of funding proposal development.

  • Well experienced in financial planning, budgeting and monitoring.

  • Significant length of work experience in the development sector (preferably with WASH centric organisations) with a sound understanding of human rights based approach.

  • Strong communication skills including oral, written and audio-visual skills including the production of communications materials for different audiences.

  • Ability to synthesize different sources of information into clear and concise documents.

  • Strong IT and digital capability and knowledge about relevant platforms.

  • Ability to provide effective support, collaboration and coordination to distantly based multi-cultural teams using cross cultural sensitivity, diplomacy and tact.

  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritize competing priorities. 

  • Approachable, adaptable and yet organized and assertive with ability to hold others to account.

  • Strong ability to work under pressures to manage priorities and negotiate where required.

  • Self-driven and ability to work independently.

  • Ability to undertake occasional travel in the region and elsewhere.

  • Well aligned to WaterAid's vision, mission, values and ways of working.
