Being a developing country, Bangladesh still has lot of scopes to improve on the WASH sector as everyone does not get access to water. sanitation and hygiene equally. WaterAid Bangladesh is working to make these facilities universally accessible for everyone, everywhere.

Our universal access to WASH programme focuses on modeling effective service delivery, developing institutional commitments, and mobilising resources and capacities, with the ultimate goal of establishing a model towards universal, safe, and sustainable WASH access. This involves creating demonstration models in specific geographic locations, gradually expanding coverage to the entire sub-district, and replicating successful models and innovations in other coastal areas. Meanwhile, at the national level, the strategy infuses learnings from local interventions into government institutions and policies, amplifying the impact to all over the country and contributing to a broader influencing environment. Through these coordinated efforts, universal access to WASH programme aims to address underlying barriers, build resilience, and drive sustainable change in WASH access across Bangladesh.

Partnerships and collective action will be critical in achieving the aim of this programme. We partner with public, private and non-governmental organisations to demonstrate successful models of management and delivery of sustainable services and behaviour change in Paikgacha. We will prioritise embedding our footprint in the existing areas where we are/have been present especially in municipalities and Upazilas for ensuring universal and sustainable WASH.
