FAQs
Great news! Whether you’re going to be hosting a Game of Thrones party or whipping up a storm in the kitchen, your generosity is going to change lives. Make sure to let us know about your fundraising by shooting us an email and we’ll be in touch to support you on your journey. We also recommend reading our fundraising guide to get the ball rolling.
We'd love to send you some WaterAid goodies to help you with your fundraising. We have a collection of resources, as well as sponsorship forms, leaflets and posters. Email us at [email protected] and we'll send them out to you.
If you've raised money offline, you can send in your fundraising by sending us a cheque or money order in the mail along with the appropriate donation form (individual donation form, group donation form).

Fundraising ideas
Sponsored challenge (event-a-thon)
It could be anything from a family walk along the beach, a 10k run around your local park or swimming laps at your local pool. Ask friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you, and keep them updated with how your training is going.
Walk for Water
Use old-fashioned sponsorship forms, or contact WaterAid Canada for an organizational guide and tips for how to set up your own Walk for Water fundraising page online.
Celebrate with us
Do you have that big day coming up? Why not celebrate your birthday, wedding or another special occasion by raising funds for WaterAid. You can ask for donations in place of gifts or throw a party and ask for donations at the door.
Fashion show
Engage with local designers who use eco-friendly products/ reused materials/ etc. to extend the International Development theme or make it a fashion show of entirely blue. Have gift bags donated.
Pub Quiz
A social trivia game set in a bar. Give each “round” a different theme, for example, “water facts,” “movies with water,” “songs with water,” etc.
Wine and cheese
Opportunity for chatting about the water and sanitation crisis and our work to alleviate it. How about a wine and cheese right after a Speaker Series?
Raffle
This can be affiliated with another event. Raffle off donated items.
Host an event
Try your hand at putting on a movie night, music event, tournament, BBQ, bake sale or pub crawl. You could even ask local businesses to donate prizes for a raffle – after all, it’s for a good cause!
Give it up
Do you have any bad habits? Could you give it up! The key is to choose something difficult – our personal favorites include no coffee for a week or giving up your morning muffin for a month* (*we should mention that no-one likes this idea.)
Be adventurous
Bring out your inner daredevil! Keep it local with a sponsored head shave, skydive or dance-off, or venture further afield. Our previous fundraisers have traveled the world on tandem bikes, along rivers in canoes, and coast to coast on a unicycle.
Get crafty
Selling your homemade goods is a brilliant way of raising money. Over the years our supporters have raised thousands by selling handmade cards, bath bombs and of course, the humble cupcake.
World Toilet Day & World Water Day
Save up all of your awesome fundraising ideas and make a big splash on World Toilet Day (November 19th) or World Water Day (March 22nd). Let us know what you’re planning and we will be sure to help promote your event and on our social media channels!
