This set of lesson plans is particularly useful for KS3 and KS4 citizenship and geography lessons, and introduces students to the global water and sanitation crisis.

The lessons explore how WaterAid is helping girls like Erika (above) get access to clean water and decent toilets, and challenges students to think about how they can get involved with raising awareness of WaterAid’s work. Students are encouraged to think about their own water usage and how it compares with that of the developing world.

Lesson plans can be used as the basis for a number of lessons, and allow the teacher to choose whether to cover all aspects of the plans or just a few. Some of the activities might be particularly suitable for homework or extension work.
