Altico Capital India Limited

In April 2018, Altico Capital India Limited, a non-banking financial company that engages in financing business, extended a partnership with WaterAid India to safeguard long-term solutions in 30 government schools in Delhi, and reaching out to 9000 children.

To make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene accessible for government school children in Delhi, the focus of the partnership has been on infrastructure development. This includes restoring toilet complexes in schools, installation of drinking water dispensers and hand washing stations. The programme also aims at constructing disabled-friendly toilets.

From our past experiences we also realised the need to ensure proper operation and maintenance of the infrastructure constructed. Hence, School Management Committees are trained on good practices and standards in each school.

To ensure that these measures are in practice even when the project is complete, students and teachers are involved in various ways. They are trained as ambassadors and are made responsible to create awareness about good hygiene practices, and the overall management of water, sanitation and hygiene structures. As a next step, the programme also entails inculcating the habit of safe waste disposal amongst children.
