About the Schools for Schools programme

The Schools for Schools program started with a vision to create awareness about the magnitude of problems around access to clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene. We aim to sensitise students and teachers about these issues, who in turn spread the message to their parents, friends and the society at large.

We encourage schools and students to conduct activities which create awareness about the issues and an urgency to work towards the same. They are also encouraged to conduct fundraising activities that contribute to the solution for these problems.

The children connect across languages, countries, states, age and many other differences towards one goal, bringing about a change towards a happier world for all. They take up action projects to ensure sensitisation about the school-going children who do not have access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene.

Activities under the programme

For schools: You can be our extended arms to ensure that we strive towards a world where everyone, everywhere has clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene. You can organise any of these activities that you feel will work best for your students. Have any other ideas, feel free to share!

Hold sessions with energisers, short films, presentations and interactive activities to get started. Students can volunteer and raise resources.

Blue day

Wear blue clothes, paint your face blue or dress up in a water-themed costume. Each student participates and contributes a minimal amount.

Charity sports event

Host a charity sports event and get the whole school cheering! All proceeds would support students’ access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene.

Let the artist in your students’ blossom in a water-themed colouring and painting competition! Each student contributes a certain amount to participate.

Walk for water

Organise a sponsored walk for your class or school and experience what it is like to walk for water every day, while raising funds for WaterAid India.

For students: Students are our real champions. As WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) ambassadors they help us work towards our ultimate aim of making clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene accessible for everyone, everywhere. Here are some ways to be a part of our journey. But remember to ensure that people know how their contributions would impact someone’s life.

Love baking? Bake cookies and cakes and sell them at a stall in your locality or school. The proceeds will support the Schools for Schools program.

Make and sell handmade postcards with cool messages around water, sanitation and hygiene awareness.

Sell saplings and seeds

One of the most eco-friendly and simple yet effective way in which you could help raise awareness and resources for us.

Family get-together

Prepare a skit with your friends on water, toilets, and hygiene themes. Also, design an event around it and invite people to come and support your show!

What do schools say

Schools for Schools by WaterAid was a remarkable initiative to constructively engage our students of grade 1-8 who gained awareness of the profound theme in a fun way as well as through artistic expression.
