WaterAid India conducted documentation of four multi-village, centralized, and relatively large piped water supply schemes from across the country to derive learnings for strengthening such piped water schemes being planned under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). The four study location were- Lakkidiperur MVS in Palakkad (Kerala), Mardanpur MVS in Sehore, (Madhya Pradesh), Matto MVS in Bhadrak (Odisha), Makhana PWS, Kachchh (Gujarat). 

The study was conducted with the objective to understand:

i) Community participation in various phases of the scheme,

ii) The role of key stakeholders and sharing of roles and responsibilities between various stakeholders,

iii)  Financial management and cost-sharing pattern

iv) Various challenges faced by these schemes,

v) Inform the JJM from the learnings documented
