Since 1983, WaterAid Tanzania has been working closely with partners and stakeholders to make clean water, decent sanitation and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere. We are one of the leading players in the WASH sector.

Our work is closely aligned with the , and our work aims to unblock the key challenges that the sector is facing in achieving the WSDP targets. We use the lessons and experiences from our projects on the ground to influence policy at the national level.

We believe that water, sanitation and hygiene should be at the centre of development. When citizens have access to WASH services, this also improves their health, education, nutrition, and livelihoods. By working to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 6 – universal access to water and sanitation, we will also be supporting the country to eradicate extreme poverty, and improve the lives of the poorest in Tanzania.

Our staff is made up of a team of 18 people, with a range of expertise in the sector. In June 2019, we won an 'East Africa NGO Leadership Award' recognising our contribution to improving the lives of the poorest.
