VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: 

Young Professionals Graduate Program

WaterAid is seeking a motivated young professional to build a career in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), with a particular focus on attaining inclusive and safe WASH services. Do you want to be part of the team that drives an agenda for everyone in WaterAid Tanzania to have clean water, sanitation and hygiene? Do you have passion and commitment for WASH? Tenure: 12 months, full time

About the Young Professionals Graduate Program: WaterAid is seeking a motivated young professional to build a career in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), with a particular focus on sanitation. The Young Professionals Graduate Program is a one-year development and mentorship initiative designed to: Address capacity gaps and develop talent in critical skill areas. Support the implementation of WaterAid’s strategic objectives. Strengthen WASH as a sector of choice for aspiring professionals and provide young professionals with valuable experience and a solid foundation for their careers.

The program offers the possibility of extension and is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about making a meaningful impact in WASH while advancing their professional development.

About the role:

The graduate program will focus on the following areas:

  1. Management of water supply and sanitation services 

  2. Quality program/Projects implementation 

  3. Research and evidence generation

  4. Capacity building

  5. Citizen engagement and empowerment

  6. Policy and advocacy

  7. Monitoring and reporting

Eligibility 

  • To qualify you must be currently pursuing or have recently completed a master’s degree in environmental health, Public Health or related fields.
  • Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Water Resources Management, or a related field.

  • 1 year experience will be an added advantage 

  • Must be highly motivated and driven

  • Intellectual rigor and willingness/ability to go through a highly competitive selection process
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to collect and analyze data effectively.

  • Knowledge of sanitation and hygiene issues, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

  • Good understanding of government WASH policy.

  • Familiar with the national hygiene and sanitation strategy and promotional approach.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams and engage with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Passion for improving sanitation and hygiene services in vulnerable communities.

  • Familiarity with WaterAid's core values and mission.

  • Fluency in both English and local languages (e.g., Swahili) is an asset.
