Are my donations secure?

Yes. When you donate on the WaterAid website, you’ll see ‘https’ in the address bar. This means the pages are hosted on an application which protects data securely. When you visit the page asking for your card details, the ‘https’ padlock symbol will appear in the address bar to indicate your information is secure.

We also adhere to strict data protection protocols when processing your data. We also place great importance on the security of your personal information and will always try to take appropriate precautions to protect it. We ensure that there are appropriate technical controls in place to protect your personal details. For example, we use encryption technology on our websites and carry out regular security reviews on our network.

For full details, see our Privacy Policy at www.wateraid.org/privacy.

How do I make changes to my direct debit?

If you'd like to increase the amount of your direct debit, please fill out this form online.

This online form is the easiest way to donate to us, but if you would prefer to use a different method, you can donate via cheque or bank transfer.

Please call our Supporter Care team on 020 7793 4594 to make a bank transfer.

Please download the appropriate form from below to send in with a cheque.

If I donate, will I hear from you?

We’re always really keen to give our supporters the choice on how we communicate with them. During the online donation process you’ll be given options on how you hear from us. If ever you’d like to change these at a later date, please do contact us.

We’re a member of the Fundraising Regulator and adhere to their Code of Fundraising Practice. We’ve also made our own fundraising promise to you, which you can read here. >

How do I complete my address on the donation form?

Our address finder recognises addresses in all major countries, so instead of typing your postcode please start typing the first line of your address. As you continue to type the options will narrow down and your address will appear.

I live outside the UK, can I still donate?

Although direct debits can only be set up from UK bank accounts, we can accept one-off donations from outside of the UK. The bank will convert your donation to pound sterling using their exchange rate.

Our address finder recognises addresses in all major countries, so instead of typing your postcode please start typing the first line of your address. As you type the options will narrow down and your address will appear.

I couldn't complete my donation, the form won't progress to the next stage?

Our online donation form is optimised for all major internet browsers, so it may just be an issue with the internet connection. Please do try again later, or try using a different device.

If the problem still persists, please call us on 020 7793 4594 - we will happily assist and can take your donation over the phone.

When a community gets clean water for the first time, it’s the start of something truly life-changing.

Right now, some of the world’s poorest and most marginalised people don’t have clean water to drink, decent toilets or hygiene. Without these basics, overcoming poverty is just a dream.

But when you help us to dig a well or install a tap stand in a community, you're changing the lives of children like Dina for the better. They can dream again.

Every child should have a bright future ahead of them and focus on being a child - not walking long distances to collect and drink dirty water.

Today one in nine people do not have clean water close to home. We'll keep working until everyone, everywhere has clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene. But we can’t do it without you.

About WaterAid

WaterAid has teams in 28 countries across the world, working with our partners to transform millions of lives every year by improving access to clean water, toilets and hygiene.

And since 1981, we’ve reached 24.9 million people with clean water.

In the last 35 years, we’ve gone from strength to strength to become one of the most respected organisations dealing solely with water, sanitation and hygiene issues.

What do WaterAid do?

While installing taps and toilets is essential to our work, we do so much more. We convince governments to change laws, link policy makers with people on the ground, pool knowledge and resources and rally support from people and organisations around the world, making lasting change happen on a massive scale.

Why regular donations matter

Regular gifts by direct debit give us a predictable income so we can commit to helping more people. Plus direct debits mean we pay less in processing fees than for credit card gifts.

Our fundraising promise to you

We’ll use your donations in the best way possible. For every £1 you give, 72p is spent enabling people to transform their lives with clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene, 1p is spent on governance and 27p is spent on fundraising*
