We all need water, no matter who or where we are.

Let’s face it, in the UK, we couldn’t imagine living without access to clean water, let alone not having access to a decent toilet nearby when we need it. We see them as a human right and part of everyday life.

However, there are young people like Olivia who still have to live without these absolute essentials. WaterAid is changing that. What we’re doing works, we just need your help to do more of it. Olivia lives in Madagascar. Every day, she had to collect dirty water from a river, due to the lack of running water in her village.

This dirty water was filled with germs and bacteria and Olivia was often sick and missed school. Worse still, more than 800 children die every day due to dirty water and poor sanitation.

WaterAid and our brilliant local partners worked with Olivia’s community, installing waterpoints in the area and at her school. Clean water has been life-changing. Olivia no longer has to drink dirty water; she is healthier and can focus on her education. Olivia’s world is changing. For the better.

We need your help to take our solution to everyone that needs it. We need your help to create the world that children like Olivia should be living in. Be the change.

About us

We’re an international not-for-profit, determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation.

Since 1981, we’ve directly reached 28 million people with clean water; 28 million with decent toilets; and 26 million with good hygiene.

Only by tackling these three essentials in ways that last can people change their lives for good. With our supporters and partners, we will change millions of lives for the better.

How we work

We work closely with partners internationally and on the ground in some of the toughest places in the world, to help achieve widespread change. Millions of people have already taken control of their lives and built better futures.

We do more than install taps and toilets. To make lasting change happen on a massive scale, we convince governments to change laws; link policy makers with people on the ground; change attitudes and behaviours; pool knowledge and resources; and rally support from people and organisations around the world.

Why monthly donations have a bigger impact

Regular gifts by direct debit give us a predictable income so WaterAid can commit to reaching more people around the world. Plus, direct debits mean we pay less in processing fees than for credit card gifts.

Our fundraising promise to you

We’ll use your donations in the best way possible. In every £1 we spent, 74p went on delivering services and making change happen and 26p went on fundraising and governance*
