CLIMB-IT cycle challenge
Looking to achieve your next big cycling goal?
Challenge yourself to climb the height of Africa's tallest peak – that's a lung-busting 5,895 metres, or 19,340 feet! – whilst raising funds to bring life-changing water, sanitation and hygiene to communities facing the impacts of climate change.
How it works
You can accumulate the elevation over as many rides as you want over October, climbing on roads, on trails, or even on an indoor bike.
Go solo, tackle it as a team, or use the challenge to add an extra layer of motivation to your weekend club rides!
Why CLIMB-IT for climate change?
Kilimanjaro is spectacular, but life for communities nearby isn’t always easy – and climate change is making it even more difficult.
Across East Africa, increased floods and droughts are ruining people’s supplies of clean water, destroying their livelihoods and making it harder to stay safe and healthy.
By fundraising for WaterAid, you can help us reach communities everywhere with clean, safe, reliable water – whatever the changing climate brings.
Win exclusive jerseys
We've teamed up with AeroPro, the new aerodynamic and sustainable clothing brand designed for the serious cyclist, to offer exclusive prizes to our top fundraisers.
Everyone who raises at least £100 will be entered into a prize draw to win one of 50 exclusive jerseys.
CLIMB-IT King or Queen of the Mountain jersey
Our top 20 fundraisers will be royally rewarded with an extra-special King or Queen of the Mountain top – one of only 30 in existence!
Plus, everyone who takes part will receive a virtual badge at the start, a virtual medal at the end, and a trophy for your Strava trophy case.
Nope – it's completely up to you how often you cycle.
The total elevation works out at around 190m/624ft a day, or 1,180m/3,870ft each weekend.
However you decide to tackle the challenge, make sure you're being realistic for your level of fitness and stay safe!
We recommend that you use the Strava app to track your ride distances and to record your elevation. You can either link this to a smartwatch if you have one, or manually add an activity every time you cycle.
Join our Strava CLIMB-IT club to log your rides and see if you can beat the rest of Team CLIMB-IT to the top of the leaderboard! The club is also a great way to meet fellow CLIMB-IT participants.
If you use an indoor bike and track your climbs through Peloton or another indoor bike or app such as Zwift, you can still join the Strava group, or manually update your fundraising page to share your progress with your friends and family.
