How it works

You can accumulate the metres of elevation over as many rides as you want this summer up until the end of September, climbing on roads, on trails, or even on an indoor bike.

Go solo, tackle it as a team, or use the challenge to add an extra layer of motivation to your weekend club rides.

These mountains are spectacular, but life for communities nearby isn’t always easy – and climate change is making it even more difficult. Increased floods and droughts are ruining people’s supplies of clean water, destroying their livelihoods and making it harder to stay safe and healthy.

By fundraising for WaterAid, you can help us reach communities everywhere with clean, safe, reliable water – whatever the changing climate brings.

FAQs

It's completely up to you how often you cycle to complete your chosen elevation. However you decide to reach your elevation – whether across days, weeks, or the whole summer – just make sure you're being realistic for your level of fitness and stay safe!

We recommend you complete the challenge in as many rides as you like over the summer and by the end of September.

There are a few ways you could keep track of your challenge:

  • We recommend that you use the Strava app to track your ride distances and to record your elevation. You can either link this to a smartwatch if you have one, or manually add an activity every time you cycle. If you use Strava, you can link this directly to your fundraising page, log your cycle distance and elevation and keep your sponsors up to date with your progress.
  • Join our Strava CLIMB-IT club to log your climbs and see if you can beat the rest of Team CLIMB-IT to the top of the leaderboard! The club is also a great way to meet fellow CLIMB-IT participants.
  • If you use an indoor bike and track your elevation goal through Peloton or another indoor bike or app such as Zwift, you can manually update your fundraising page to share your progress with your friends and family.
  • Keep notes with a good old fashioned pen and paper! You can then update your fundraising page with comments letting your sponsors know where you’re at with your elevation challenge.

However you track your challenge, make sure to share your progress with your friends and family!
