We touch so many people during our lives, making imprints that shape those around us, however big or small.
We share laughter and tears. And when we're gone, we want to leave our loved ones with something precious: joyful memories, an item they can treasure, life lessons, a word of wisdom.
Have you ever imagined leaving something precious to someone you've never met?
Our film What Jack Gave represents the many ways we can leave something behind and be remembered.
By adding the gift of clean water to your will, you could change someone’s life for good. Someone like Mary.
Mary, a mother of two, will never have to see her children collect or drink dirty water again.
Life is great, we are healthy and probably will live much longer. Life with clean water is easy and enjoyable. It is easier because water is life.”
Mary, 27, from Kazungula District, Zambia.
As a child, Mary was forced to travel long distances in search of water instead of spending time at school. Often this would be dirty river water. That water made her sick, and so she missed even more school.
But a few years ago, everything changed. Thanks in part to people who chose to add WaterAid to their will, Mary’s community now has clean water and decent toilets.
eThis means that children can concentrate on their learning and stay healthy.
Mary's local health centre is now equipped to deliver better healthcare and protect staff and patients from infections.
It is in this very health centre that Mary gave birth to her youngest son, Chileshe, who has started life with the clean water that every child deserves.
Now Mary can watch her children grow up strong and healthy.
The fact that children will grow up healthier due to access to clean, running water in the community of Simango makes me very excited about the future.”
Clean water has given Mary, her husband Savior and their children a new beginning.
Their generation will not suffer the way we suffered thinking about where we will collect drinking water from.”
Without gifts in wills, we could not reach people like Mary and her family.
But even though it is a human right, 1 in 10 people still don’t have the clean water that brings the health, dignity and opportunity to thrive.
You can help change this by adding WaterAid to your will.
Your future gift will help create a better world where even more people can change their lives for good, with clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene.
We are so grateful you are considering this thoughtful gift.
