Lent resources for school
Download
Lent is a time for giving up small luxuries in life. But imagine if you had to give up more important things, like school or your job, all because you don't have clean water close to home. This is the reality for 1 in 9 people around the world.
For children especially, clean water can be the difference between a full education and dropping out of school. The difference between enjoying a happy childhood with friends, or risking their lives on long walks for water.
Use our school Lent resources, focussing on two young girls from Malawi, to teach your pupils about the importance of clean water and how it can impact children's futures and the opportunities available to them.
Our presentation shares the stories of Maliya and Malita and shows how Jars of Change can make a difference to their lives. Our classroom resource features two activities that combine discussion and games.
You can also support our Jars of Change Lent Appeal with your class - encourage the children to give something up for Lent and fill a jar of change with the money they save. Or, you could find a new habit to stick to and give some change every time you do it!
