We all need clean water and decent toilets – but millions of people are living without, and climate change is only making things worse. Help us put these vital services on the main stage by designing a temporary tattoo to spread the word at festivals this year, and you could win a pair of tickets to Glastonbury 2023!

The competition is open until 8am on Tuesday 30 May, with the winning design chosen by a public vote. Good luck!

Our Climate Fight

We might not give them much thought, but clean water and decent toilets deserve to be headliners. Around the world, they’re transforming lives – and helping bring hope for a healthier, safer, and more prosperous future.

With a reliable supply of water, people don’t have to spend hours collecting it from dangerous, dirty sources like rivers. Instead, they can spend their time and energy on going to school, earning a living, or caring for family. And with private, working toilets, people can live in dignity, while whole communities stay free from deadly diseases.

But 1 in 10 people don’t have clean water close to home, and almost 1 in 5 lack a decent toilet. And, as climate change brings more extreme weather events like floods and droughts, things are only getting worse.

Wells are running dry. Floods are polluting water sources. And extreme weather is destroying systems, undoing the progress made to build taps and toilets where they’re needed the most.

World leaders can – and must – do more to support communities on the frontline of climate change.

By making a song and dance about the power of clean water and decent toilets, we can get them to listen, and invest in vital services that are built to last.

As a result, more people will be able to stay healthy, go to work or school, and take control of their futures – whatever our changing climate brings.

How to win Glastonbury tickets

To enter the competition, design a temporary tattoo in support of #OurClimateFight campaign.

Actor and activist Cel Spellman will shortlist the top three designs, and the overall winner will be chosen by a public vote – then turned into a limited-edition temporary tattoo, available exclusively from WaterAid this summer!

We're looking for a striking tattoo that will help raise awareness of the campaign, and get people talking about the importance of clean water and decent toilets – especially for those facing the impacts of climate change. Your design should:

  • be bold and impactful,
  • use no more than three colours (we recommend incorporating some bright 'WaterAid' cyan if possible!),
  • easily be scalable up or down,
  • be created using whichever medium you prefer, whether digitally or by hand (just take a photo).

It doesn't need to be perfect, or include intricate artwork – often the simplest approaches are the most effective! You could incorporate a drawing or symbols, or stick to just words – it's up to you.

To enter, you must be a UK resident, and aged at least 18. You must also read and agree to the full competition terms and conditions.
