WaterAid is calling on ministers, country delegates and UN officials to recognize the fundamental importance of water, sanitation and hygiene to almost every area of development.
This walk coincides with ministerial talks at the High Level Political Forum at the United Nations on the current state of progress towards an international commitment to bring safe water and toilets to all by 2030 (Sustainable Development Goal 6).
According to the WHO and UNICEF 38% of healthcare facilities across low and middle-income countries lack access to a water source, one in five (19%) are without access to adequate toilets, and over a third (35%) are without adequate facilities for washing hands with soap.
