July Update
What's been happening this July
Tap the sun
This summer we're tapping the sun!
Join us this summer as we harness the searing heat of the sun to power a water system for Alde (pictured above) and everyone else in Chicoma, Mozambique.
How to raffle an American quilt to support clean water for everyone.
This week WaterAid has been making friends and influencing people at the UN in support of clean water for all!
A deep dive into the ongoing maintenance and support processes we have developed to ensure our water projects continue to serve communities long after the taps are built.
Goal 6 - water and sanitation
In some countries, progress towards clean water and decent toilets is actually going backwards. We cannot let this happen.
The man in the quilt
It's summer, yet we present a man wearing a quilt, curious?
You may recognize him, this is Tobias Menzies, a British actor best-known for his work in Outlander, The Night Manager and he will soon be playing HRH Prince Philip in the Netflix program The Crown. In between his busy schedule he took time out to model this quilt.
The quilt is just one of the prizes in our Outlander Sweepstakes contest. Other prizes include two tickets to the Outlander Convention, taking place in New Jersey this August and a photo opportunity with members of the Outlander cast!
The contest closes July 15, Midnight EST.
What happens if the tap breaks?
Our policy team examine all the players involved in a successful water project, long after our engineers have left the area. From local community leaders, to businesses and governments, people at each level of the project, have to be committed to ensure that the end users, the people in the communities can reap the benefits of clean water and decent toilets.
As you might expect, it's a lot more complicated than it sounds. For those of you who embrace the details, read on, read on.
