Take a look at our journey in LAC!

With clean water, reliable toilets and good hygiene, children are born healthier. They get the chance to go to school and grow up to become adults. Women and men get to earn a living. Whole communities start to thrive. See how we're doing that in LAC!

Why LAC?

The region is incredibly rich in culture, diversity, world wonders, delicious foods and the list can go on and on. It is also the most unequal region in the world. Since 2011, WaterAid has been working in the LAC region which faces tremendous challenges in bringing clean water and reliable toilets to their populations.

Right now:

  • lack access to clean water 1

  • do not have reliable toilets 1

We can change this.

Together we can make a lasting difference. WaterAid works with communities, governments and partners to address the needs of marginalized populations.

What do we do?

We focus on different areas of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) to support women, children and rural indigenous communities. By working together we can unlock people’s potential with clean water, reliable toilets and good hygiene.

We are addressing the barriers that prevent marginalized people from realizing their right to clean water, sanitation and hygiene by promoting women’s and girl’s empowerment and working closely with indigenous and Afro-descendent communities in the region.

We partner with public and private institutions and communities  to build capacity, innovate and develop sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene solutions that can be scaled-up across entire municipalities, districts and departments/states.

We champion the role of  water, sanitation and hygiene as fundamental building blocks for human development by promoting holistic solutions with  key sectors such as health and education.
