August Update
What have you been up to this summer?
Whatever it is, we hope it’s been full of good memories! While our summer memories may vary there are certain things they might share in common, for example, access to water and loads of sunlight. Ah yes, summer for some people means trips to beaches, pools, water parks and if you’re lucky it also means getting all the sun you can get.
This summer we’ve been working with supporters and communities members in Chicoma, Mozambique to use solar energy to bring clean water! A bit different from your typical water and sun combination but what do you say, will you join us in bringing clean water to Chicoma?
Now, that’s just one of the many journeys we’ve been on this summer. With the first day of school just around the corner, you might also want to learn about the importance of clean water in schools and how together we've been working on that around the world. Or maybe you’re having one last BBQ this summer and want to try a new and delicious recipe, well we have that for you too! Well, let's get to it.
Back to School:
Meet the doctors, nurses and writers of tomorrow!
September is almost upon us and students everywhere are preparing to go back to school. We checked in with some of the children we have met along the way, who share their hopes and ambitions for the next academic year and beyond.
You’ll meet Sharin, Sandra, Gobena and Bilal, who are now free to imagine their futures and put them into action at school. Whether it's through Gobena's ambitions in biology or Sandra's interest in nursing, you’ll learn what having clean water at school means.
Water Walk:
WaterAid supporters embarked on a journey to highlight the water crisis that is still happening today.
In July, WaterAid staff and supporters walked two miles through New York City from Central Park to the United Nations, reflecting the walk that millions of women and girls take every day to collect water. This was to remind decision-makers gathered at the United Nations for the High-level Political Forum to fulfill their promise of bringing clean water and decent toilets to everyone, everywhere by 2030 through the Sustainable Development Goals. Our CEO, Sarina Prabasi, shared her thoughts on the walk for water. See what she had to say!

Tap the Sun:
Turning sunlight into clean water. See how you can help us bring clean water to the small but vibrant village, Chicoma in Mozambique!
Tap the sun is WaterAid’s recently launched special project to bring life-saving clean water access to Chicoma, and other remote towns in Mozambique, using their most abundant natural resource: the sun.
Four village taps, powered by solar panels, will mean villagers no longer have to fetch water from contaminated water holes, but instead have clean, reliable water 365 days a year and closer to home.
