Stockholm World Water Week is the annual focal point for the globe's water issues. Organised by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), the conference brings together participants from more than 190 countries to exchange knowledge and develop solutions to the world's most pressing water-related challenges.

In 2024, World Water Week is a hybrid event, running both online and on-site between 25th and 29th August. The venue is Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre in the heart of Stockholm.

With a theme of "Bridging Borders: Water for a Peaceful and Sustainable Futures", this year's event invites us to recognize the regional and global interconnectivity of communities and nations, and underscores the collaborative effort needed to achieve a peaceful and sustainable future.

WaterAid will have a booth at World Water Week, and we warmly invite you to visit us. Furthermore, WaterAid is actively involved in several sessions during World Water Week. These sessions cover a range of crucial topics and provide valuable insights into water-related challenges and innovative solutions:

Life in Every Drop: Women's Stories of Water and Dignity

We are delighted to invite you to the opening of the photo exhibition, “Life in Every Drop: Women's Stories of Water and Dignity,” presented by WaterAid. This unique exhibition highlights how access to clean water can transform lives, focusing on Gifty, a hairdresser in Bolgatanga, Ghana.

Through powerful images captured by photographer Sianeh A. Kpukuyou and Gifty and her customers own words, we gain insight into the profound significance of women's hair in various cultures, particularly in Ghana. We follow her journey from the challenges of fetching water to the positive changes that clean water has brought to her life and business.

In another part of our exhibition, we turn our focus to the coastal regions of Bangladesh, where women are facing a silent but severe consequence of the water crisis: health problems and hair loss. In areas like Satkhira, where over half of the water sources are tainted with salt and pollutants, clean water has become a precious resource.

Join us for an evening dedicated to celebrating women’s dignity, empowerment, and entrepreneurship.

Program:
5:30 PM: Welcome reception with refreshments
6:30 PM: Introduction to the exhibition by WaterAid Sweden’s CEO Anna Nilsdotter and Gender Expert Martina Nee.
