Handwashing helps
Handwashing and good hygiene behaviour is the first line of defense against infectious diseases.
Coronavirus, declared a global pandemic by WHO, has underscored the importance of hand hygiene and personal hygiene, as well as safe water and sanitation in slowing the spread of the virus.
Our routine hygiene promotion activities, behaviour change initiatives and infrastructure support with regard to handwashing and hygiene facilities have helped equip communities with the knowledge and resources to practice good hygiene behaviour, particularly pertinent during an epidemic like the one we face today.
Why WaterAid
WaterAid India is part of the global WaterAid network which seeks to improve access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene for everyone, everywhere.
We started in 1986 because no non-profit like us existed. We are determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation. Only by tackling these three essentials, in ways that last, can people change their lives for good. We have been providing handwashing education for four decades.
