Primary healthcare forms an integral part of Nigeria’s socio-economic development. It is the first level of contact of the individual and community within the national health system, bringing healthcare as close as possible to where people live and work. It contributes the first element of a continuing healthcare process.

Many healthcare facilities in communities across Nigeria lack basic WASH services, thereby compromising their ability to provide safe care. This fact poses serious health challenges to people seeking medical attention.
