In 2011 and 2012, veteran writer and explorer Anthony Smith rafted across the Atlantic to raise money for WaterAid. The An-Tiki raft adventure began back in 2010 when Smith took out an advertisement in the Daily Telegraph. It read: "Fancy rafting across the Atlantic? Famous traveller requires three crew. Last year, Amy Kane, 6, was moved by the information shown on television about families in poorer countries who don't have fresh water. She approached her Headmaster about fundraising for WaterAid and during the summer term Amy held, with help from friends, family and her school in West Yorkshire, a huge bun sale which raised an impressive £145.65. Great work, Amy!
