Take a peek at a few of the dirty details our survey revealed.

1. Are men really dirtier than women?

Our survey says yes, but women aren't exactly hygiene heroes either – 18% admit to bypassing the soap after a loo break, compared to 26% of men.

2. Surprise, surprise – students care less

28% of students say they don’t always wash their hands after going to the toilet, and 7% admit to never washing their hands with soap. Gross!

3. Take your time…

80% of people don’t scrub their hands with soap for the recommended time of at least 20 seconds.

4. … And don’t dodge the dryers!

Although damp hands can spread up to 1,000 times more bacteria than dry ones, a staggering 60% of people don’t always dry their hands properly.

5. Laidback daters

Surprisingly, only 36% of people say they’d be put off dating someone who doesn’t wash their hands after the toilet.

6. Kitchen nightmares!

Maybe reconsider that dinner invitation from your mate – almost one in five people admit to being lax when it comes to clean hands and cooking.
